Cedarhurst Notes: June 2, 2023

Dear Cedarhurst Neighbors,

Welcome to Lake season!  Such a great kick off to the season with these warm days!  For those that do not know me, my name is Denis Guay, I am the president of our wonderful association.  I have been part of this community for about 5 years and have really enjoyed it!  I live in Southington CT and have a family of 6 – my wife and 4 children.  My oldest will be a Sophomore at Boston College in the fall and my second oldest will be a Freshmen at Parsons in NYC in the fall – ugh!  We also have two boys 11 and 7 and we all LOVE going out on the lake and enjoying our downtime together.  For us the lake represents a chance to rest and relax from our busy week. I work in insurance and am a graduate professor at University of Rhode Island. My wife (school teacher) and I also own a local coffee shop in Southington – which is more of a passion project than anything.   Anyway wanted to share a little about me in case you see me around the lake!!

I did want to give you some updates about our community…..

Our voluntary board has been busy meeting each month and taking care of the business of running our community to make sure we are ready for a great summer at the lake!  The minutes for all of our meetings are posted on the Cedarhurst website, which many of you are familiar with, but may not access often.  I also want to mention that if you ever have an interest in joining a meeting to listen in or if you would like to bring something to the board’s attention – you are always welcome!  Our next meeting for your information will be held on June 22nd at 7 p.m. at 63 Algonquin Trail (my home) – so if you are interested in joining let me know. If you cannot make it live, but would like to listen in we have a virtual option as well.

In our last meeting we talked about cleaning up the beach a bit more and getting more sand – which should be happening soon!  Once that happens, we will need to work as a community and spread out the sand!  I am looking forward to seeing all of the kids and families playing in the sand at the beach.

In addition, we are also updating our Membership Guide, which should be updated and shared soon,  As a reminder we do have a couple rules that are important to keep in mind so we can all enjoy our community.

  1. Dogs are not allowed to roam. Connecticut State Law requires dogs to be tied or confined to their owner’s property.  If you are enjoying the beach or any public space, please be sure to keep your dog on a leash.
  2. If you are not docking a boat, but you would like to launch your boat on occasion and you are a current member – you can do that within the prescribed guidelines.  Please note that there is no launching of boats or jet skis from the beach on Saturday, Sunday or holidays between 10 a.m.  and 8 p.m..

We will be sharing more updates and tidbits through the season.  Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns or even if you just want to say hi.

This is the best email to reach me (dguay@allegiantglobalpartners.com ) as I check this most often. I hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather and hope to see you soon!

All the best,

Denis
